A New Design Group and a New Design!

I'm excited to say that I and along of with many other friends and designers of Poppyst, have joined a new group. The group's name is called BerriPop and is filled with tons of talent and like minded designers. It's an excting new venture with me along with some of my good friends. Hi Everyone: that's probably just Steve LOL. Anyway, things are going great! Claire and Olivia started dance class and had no problems joining in! They danced the whole time and were the first to volunteer. I was so happy I had tears in my eyes. A big step for my girlies!! If you didn't know Claire and Olivia have severe anxiety which comes out in the form of selective mutism. So participating in any social events are difficult for them. They have made leaps and bounds in since starting Kindergarten in September. Our next step is for them to talk to their teachers.

Anyway, here are some pictures of Claire in the snow. She rarely likes her picture taken but for some reason wanted to pose this day. The snow here has been crazy for Calgary standards. Can't wait for Spring - perhaps in July ;) LOL.

I was away for Canadian Thansgiving. We had a fun and busy family reunion in Golden, BC. It was great to be with my family. I grew up in the small town of Golden, but now live in the bustling city of Calgary. When I lived there I really didn't appreciate how beautiful the scenery is! Just wanted to share this picture I took of my friend's grandson. Ohhhh he has beautiful eyes. He reminds me a lot of Damian when he was a baby. Except Damian has dark chocolate colored eyes.

Holidays

I have had a crazy busy summer! My family went to North and South Dakota for two weeks in our RV. It was a great adventure and we saw many interesting things. The kids really enjoyed the camping and being outside all the time. I also went on a girls only trip to San Francisco this past weekend with my sister Karen. We were celebration our 0 birthday! That means 40 and 50. Well, I'm not too sure how old I look or her but we were asked yet again if we were twins???? Hmmmm well that's great for my sister but perhaps not so great for me LOL. Hi Everyone: well the girls are going to Kindergarten this year and will be wearing uniforms. Hmmm well I have mixed feelings about this. I really know the benefits of wearing uniforms. However, that isn't making it that much easier for me LOL. Shopping and designing for my girls is my hobby. So with that being said, I am listing a couple of sets that we haven't had a chance to wear. They are starting at very low prices and no reserves. So get them while you can!

On Vacation!!!

Hi Everyone: well we are on our way to the USA for a vacation. Yes, it will be somewhat similar to the Griswold's Family Vacation LOL. It's taking me a whole day just to get the RV cleaned and packed up for two weeks away! I think the kids are going to love the trip. I'm going to try and keep sane by packing the kids tons of things to do; new crafts, loads of coloring supplies, dvds and yes a bribe box! I think they might be looking forward to that the most. Thank goodnes for the dollar store!! Anyway, I will be able to check e-mail as many campgrounds have WFI and even cable TV.

We just started camping this year with the kids. We bought an used RV that sleeps 6. The only way I would go camping LOL. The kids absolutely love it!

Damian's Fake Birthday

Every year we have a birthday party for Damian in June to celebrate his birthday in August when all the kids are on holidays. We call it his "Fake Birthday". This year he had 14 kids with 12 of them being boys!!! Wow it was quite the day.

It Has Been a Year!!

Wow it's been a year since my last post LOL. That must tell you about my life - crazy busy. Now that summer is here I'm off work again. It was a busy year with teaching Kindergarten for the first time. Let me tell you it was a lot of fun and a lot of work!

The girls finished their first year of preschool at a school for children with special needs. They did really well and I'm really proud of them. They will attend regular Catholic Kindergarten in the Fall. The only thing is they won't be wearing boutique clothing to school :(. They have uniforms and they are not very cute either. The name of the school is St. Patrick School. So you can imagine what the uniforms look like. One friend said they will look like little leprechauns. LOL

Damian finished grade one! He is very happy that summer is here. He did really well and made lots of friends. That is one thing about Damian he makes friends very easily!! I wish I was outgoing as him. He is on his first week of summer camp at the Zoo starting today! He was complaining about having to go to camp but when he got there he was pretty excited!

Just Starting Out

Hi Everyone: here I am at my blog. Wow not too sure who will be interested enough in my life to read it. But I am going to give it a try.

Today in the boutique world you must have beautiful designs but also be a fabulous photographer and now a writer. While I truly love sewing and photography, writing is not my strong point. Please keep this in mind when you come to visit LOL.

In June my world and extended family's world was turned upside down. We lost our father on June 7th. Each day gets a little easier but there is still a hole in my heart. I get sad when I think I will never ever get to hear his stories or ask him another question. My father didn't leave behind any money but what he did leave behind was worth more than any money could buy. He left behind his family of 8 children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was so proud of all of us for working so hard and for each one becoming sucessful in many ways. He passed on values that can't be bought. I just hope in my heart that I can do the same for my children.

I had many opportunities to go back to British Columbia the past month to where I was born and grew up. Steve, the kids and I decided to slow down and not be in such a hurry to get where we were going. We stopped at all the beautiful places my father took us as little kids. I wanted my kids to experience the same things I did. Here are some pictures:

This is Takakkaw Falls in the Yoho National Park. I found out on this day that Takakkaw is a Cree word meaning “magnificent". Now how fitting is that - if you didn't know my Dad is Cree. My Dad took us here many times and I can still remember crossing the bridge with anticipation of the cold spray of the falls.

Damian thought this tree was really cool and wanted me take a picture of it.

We also stopped at a favorite picnic spot from the past. This place is called Finn Creek. I can remember me and my sister Carol taking off our shoes and wading in the cold mountain water. In those days you could even drink from it.

Damian found a pet here at the creek.

The kids loved these places and we hope next summer to go back and see even more of these beautiful places that hold memories of my father.
